Mathieu Lamote

My collaboration with Mathieu Lamote is a beautiful story that goes back a long way.

It is a wonderful connection, and I really want to share it with you.

We met for the very first time at the Brigode Golf Club, near Lille, on Monday, July 27, 2020, during a Team Pro Click & Golf training session.

This team brought together several professional players competing on the Challenge Tour, the Pro Golf Tour, and the Alps Tour. They met up several times a year to share practice rounds and work together on specific aspects of their game.

Mathieu was the coach for many players on that team.

It all started a few days earlier.

My dad had come across a few of the Team's posts on social media. For my part, I was just returning from a tournament in Germany with AFGolf, where I had made some major strategic mistakes.

It had become clear: if I wanted to keep improving, I needed to learn how to manage my game better directly on the course. But back then, that kind of coaching was quite difficult to arrange in Belgium.

So he decided to reach out to Mat.

On Saturday evening, July 25, dad called him. Right then and there, Mathieu didn't hesitate for a single second. He didn't ask for time to think it over; he simply offered, spontaneously, for me to come join the training session with the whole team.

The very next day, I was already in their WhatsApp group and my name was on the tee sheet.

On Monday, at 13 and a half years old, I found myself playing 27 holes with them. I was so proud! Very quickly, I became like a little sister, even the mascot of the Team. Everyone took the time to talk to me, give me advice, and share part of their experience with me.

Even today, I am still regularly in touch with most of those players. Some have moved on, others have changed tours, but the bonds formed back then are still there.

And then, there's Mat.

Our collaboration continued and grew over the years. We took part in professional tournaments together in the South of France during the COVID period. He was also my caddie at the Lacoste Ladies Open.

Today, I am in the United States, and despite the thousands of miles between us, Mat continues to follow my progress. He still takes the time to send me detailed analyses of my swing and offer his advice.

And this adventure obviously goes beyond golf.

I also had the chance to meet his family. His children and his wife, Kathleen, are lovely. They are people I am always so happy to see again.

In fact, I hope to see them again very soon, perhaps in Gran Canaria, their new home base, for an intensive training camp.
