Women's Golf Releases Challenging 2024-25 Schedule

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University's women's golf team released a challenging 2024-25 schedule today, Aug. 8. The Green and White will compete against some of the nation's top teams, as Head Coach Josh Brewer has his sights set on a Mid-American Conference title and postseason berth.

"Our goal is to compete and win in the postseason," said Brewer. "To prepare for April and May we had to create a schedule that would allow us to challenge ourselves during the regular season. This means competing in different time zones on different grasses as well as at various elevations. Our players have aspirations of competing on the LPGA Tour and in the Olympics. Our schedule prepares them for these dreams as we will play back to back weeks just like a tour player. We will also compete against the best amateurs in the world. This is important as it allows our players to raise their college and world rankings, thus allowing them to be named an All-American, selected for their national teams or receive invites to elite amateur events.  Our schedule will rival any program in the country. Of course this would not be possible without the investment and belief from Scott WetherbeeDan McLean, Eastern and GameAbove. I must also thank the coaches who invited us to their events and have allowed us to compete in their storied events."

The upcoming campaign marks a new era for the Eastern Michigan golf, as the transformation of the program began with the opening of the $8 million GameAbove Golf Performance Center, dedicated to Bruce Cunningham, in January. This state-of-the-art indoor training facility, coupled with a $6.5 million infrastructure gift from GameAbove, has enabled EMU to hire top-tier coaches, positioning the program for national championship success.

During his tenure at the University of Georgia, Brewer guided the Bulldogs to 16 tournament wins, 10 NCAA Regional qualifications, and four NCAA National Championship appearances.

The season kicks off with the Leadership and Golf Invitational in University Place, Wash., on September 16-17. The team will then compete in the GolfWeek Challenge in Wolcott, Colo., from Sept. 23-25.

In October, the Eagles will travel to Lawrence, Kan., for the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational on the 7th and 8th, followed by a tropical challenge at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in O'ahu, Hawaii, from Oct. 21-23. The month wraps up with the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla., Oct. 28-29.

The spring season begins with the Match in the Desert in Gold Canyon, Ariz., Jan. 27. The team will then head to the Cougar Classic in Kiawah Island, S.C., Feb. 24-25. March sees the Eagles competing in the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., from the 7th to the 9th, followed by the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, March 17-18. The month concludes with the Chattanooga Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn., from March 28-30.

April features the Boilermaker Classic in West Lafayette, Ind., on the 6th and 7th, leading up to the Mid-American Conference Championship in Columbus, Ind., from April 18-20.

The postseason journey begins with the NCAA Regionals from May 5-7, location to be announced. Should they advance, the Eagles will compete in the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, Calif., from May 15-21, vying for national honors.
