De Bock Garners Third MAC Golfer of the Week Honor
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University women's golfer Savannah de Bock has been named the Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week, the league announced Friday, March 14. The honor is the third season for de Bock this year and the second in a row for the Eagles after teammate Riley Kim garnered last week's accolade (March 7).

De Bock (Ecaussinnes-d'enghien, Belgium/Institut de l'Enfant-Jésus-Lycée/Georgia) was the top individual finisher for the Eagles at the Gators Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., as she carded a 1-under 209 (69-71-69) to tie for sixth place, her sixth top 10 finish of the season. De Bock's 209 ranks as the second-lowest in program history behind her 204 at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic (Sept. 23-25) and gives her the top four scores in EMU history. Ranked No. 110 in the latest Scoreboard/Clippd rankings, de Bock tied with No. 60 Pimchompoo Chaisiprungruang (University of North Carolina Charlotte) while finishing ahead of two University of Virginia players ranked in the Top 100, including No. 25 Caitlyn Macnab (T13th) and No. 91 Jaclyn LaHa (T26th). Overall, de Bock led the team (ranked No. 136) to a sixth-place finish in a tournament featuring 13 teams ranked ahead of the Eagles, including four Top 50 squads (No. 11 Virginia, No. 14 University of Mississippi, No. 29 University of Florida, and No. 31 University of Central Florida). All told, the Eagles' school-record 871 helped the team defeat seven higher ranked teams, including Top 100 teams in No. 58 University of Michigan, No. 81 Mercer University, and No. 90 Charlotte.

Overall, the honor for de Bock is her third this year, moving her into a tie with Kent State University's Veronika Kedronova for the most earned this season in the MAC with both having two outright honors after sharing the award Sept. 27. Additionally, with Kim (Aldie, Va./Lightridge) winning the award last week, EMU and KSU are tied for the most earned this year by one school while Eastern became the first school this year to win the award in back-to-back weeks.

The Eagles return to action Monday-Tuesday, March 17-18, at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational on the University of Texas Golf Course in Austin, Texas. The field of 14 teams features 13 ranked in the top 125, including EMU at No. 124, its highest of the season, while seven of the teams are ranked in the top 50, led by No. 2 University of Arkansas and No. 7 Texas.
